Karerra selects only those start-up companies that it believes have the highest potential for significant and early success. Karerra professionals provide these emerging companies with not only capital investment, as in the traditional venture capital model, but also the benefit of their years of proven operating experience. By working in partnership with Karerra, these start-ups can avoid many of the pitfalls that frequently derail other promising young companies. Karerra professionals typically spend a tremendous amount of time with their portfolio companies, even prior to making an investment.
Early engagement affords both Karerra and the company a chance to really get to know one another and to make sure that they can work well together and that they are aligned on how to proceed. The period of time up front, before money goes in, also serves as a type of 'insurance policy' for Karerra's investment, enabling the firm to have completed very strong due diligence on the company, the team, the technology and the market before investing capital into the company. Once an investment is made, Karerra Partners will typically continue to spend a great deal of time with the portfolio company at least through the first 6-12 months, which are often the most crucial. The regular meetings, usually at least weekly and often more frequently, and the accessibility to help with the heavy lifting around key decisions, signing up 'Light House' accounts, fund raising, technology and market strategy, hiring and team development, and networking in both the business and financial communities are all important aspects of Karerra's acceleration approach.
